The Future Moto Racing Team is a team of riders racing with the goal of demonstrating that electric bikes are just as capable as petrol-powered ones.

Our line-up includes professional rider and 2022 Electric Flat Track British Champion Alan Birtwistle; Colin McCabe, a rider with a wealth of years on two wheels and a keen eye for a track day or two; and last but not least, Phil Wilding, a lover of all things motorcycles, who is our entry in the rookies class and has his sights set on promotion to the intermediate series.

The three riders are also competing in the Electric Flat Track series for Future Moto on our Alta motorcycles. Additionally, they are racing their battery-powered machines against regular ICE-powered motorcycles in the pro, intermediate, and rookie classes.

Rider Biographies

Alan Birtwistle is a professional flat track racer, multiple British champion, and occasional stunt rider. Alan’s résumé is incredibly long and features multiple races in the FIM World Championship, a number of British championships, and an entry into the Superprestigio race in Barcelona, where he would compete against stars such as multiple AMA Flat Track champions Brad Baker and Jared Mees, plus three-time Supermoto World Champion Thomas Chareyre.

Alan was also the first UK flat track rider to gain an AMA Pro licence in the USA, and he has had a number of factory contracts with brands such as Alta and Kawasaki. Alan is an asset to our team and is competing in the electric and professional classes of the 2023 DTRA series.

Colin McCabe is an avid petrolhead with a taste for speed and all things motorcycles. He can normally be found at a Thundersport race meet, a Clubsport event, or a Freetech Endurance race, and if he’s not there, he’s definitely doing something motorcycle-related.

Future Moto has acquired his services to ride for us in the intermediate class alongside his electric duties on dirt. Colin has been incredibly quick to adapt and is regularly showing podium pace, despite being on an electric bike against a field of petrol powered bikes.

If it has two wheels and resembles a motorcycle, you can be sure that Phil is either riding it, looking at it, or thinking about riding it. The term ‘fanatic’ doesn’t even come close. Phil is our rider in the rookie and electric series’ and has his eyes set on promotion to the intermediate class. He has been riding motorcycles for as long as many of us can remember, and he has even had the chance to ride the iconic Goodwood Festival on his Arch Motorcycle.

He is a large part of the brains behind this entire operation here at Future Moto, overseeing everything that goes on behind the scenes.
